Smart Companies opens West Palm Beach office!

We are excited to announce the opening of our east coast office in West Palm Beach Florida!

The newest division of the Smart Companies is located at 2257 Vista Parkway, Suite 21, West Palm Beach, FL 33411. This office is part of the Vista Business Park and just off of Jog Road.

Although we are currently in the process of installing samples of all of our products, our team is ready to answer any questions and of course available to talk to you about the many hurricane protection, energy & solar options and home technology products we offer, along with assisting with service and warranty calls. I am so pleased with the installation of your shutters that I am nominating my home as the coolest job!
When the shutters on the lanai are opened, they are barely detectable. They fold back out of the way and do not obstruct our view or our normal foot traffic on the lanai. Closing the shutters is as easy as pie! My wife can close them so easy… it is like closing a slider!
The Storm Catcher screens on the front of the house blend in with architecture and do not detract from curb view of our home, and they are very simple to remove and store when not needed!
The installers worked diligently through the inclement weather to complete the installation in time for the hurricane season!

It’s hurricane season ~ Time to inspect your hurricane protection!

Hurricane season 2011 has arrived and as we prepare for a possible storm, it’s vital to inspect, clean and deploy your current hurricane shutters now BEFORE you need them.

Regular maintenance of your hurricane shutters is important to assure that all parts are working smoothly and correctly. Here are some tips to help guide you:

Tip #1: Clean your shutters. It sounds very simple but this is where a lot of damage can be avoided. Use a water hose to spray them down thoroughly. Start at the top getting into the track’s channel. The channel is the space where the tracking guide or gears reside, depending on your system, which run along the shutter. Make sure to get all the dirt, leaves, spider webs, bee hives, and wasps nests out of those tracks, top and bottom. Use a soft cloth or a thin haired brush with a mild detergent, such as Dawn to gently clean the shutter from top to bottom and then spray down again to remove all the soap. IMPORTANT: Do not spray with a high-pressure system. The high pressure may be very damaging to the painted surface.

Tip #2: Lubricate. We recommend our exclusive non-drying Shutter Spray which quickly penetrates through rust and scale to loosen the mechanical and electrical components of motorized and manual storm shutters. Be sure to lubricate tracking, hinges, locks and motor drive systems to ensure free and easy movement. WARNING: Do Not Use WD-40 on your shutters. It may do more harm than good.

Tip #3: Consider a Maintenance Agreement. Regular maintenance is vital to ensuring your hurricane protection products will operate smoothly and properly when needed. We offer a 3 year Maintenance Agreement Program which will include annual inspections and service of all your shutters including checking parts for proper operation, adjust as needed, reset limits, clean the tracks and lubricate. We are DELIGHTED with the Storm Smart installation of our accordion hurricane shutters and lanai screen. Matt & CO. did an excellent job measuring and installing them in a totally professional manner. Kudos also to Hilda who handled the office work and scheduling in an exemplary manner. We have already had compliments from both neighbors and friends and we were even more impressed when the County inspector commented on the excellence of the installation. We feel that the shutters actually enhance the outside appearance of the house and we like the versatility of the lanai screen, particularly for winter use. It is so well integrated that it actually appears like an architectural feature when totally retracted.

Being new to Florida, we were concerned about ‘weather events’ impacting our new home but now feel confident that we can ‘ride out the storm’ thanks to Storm Smart.
