Coolest Job Entry!

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

We love our new Storm Smart Roll Down Screens!  Chad and his team did the coolest job with their professional, beautiful installation making our condo lanai into another room which we now use all the time!  The screens are gorgeous, and we can see through them so clearly enjoying the cloud formations and scenery while having privacy, shade, UV filtration and protection from the rain, wind and storms. The screens not only look great, they keep our lanai clean, cool and protected while allowing us to now use the room for our hobbies, dining, reading and so many things. We really love the privacy feature while still being able to look out and enjoy our views!

Thanks Chad for your expertise and beautiful installation, and thanks Storm Smart for a great product and making the entire process from purchase to installation so professional and pleasant.   We are SO pleased- the design of your screens is not only functional, it enhances the beauty of our lanai!

Alert! Tropical Depression 16 Forms In Caribbean

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

From NBC-

Tropical Depression #16 has formed in the Caribbean as of 11:00 am, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Florida coast from Jupiter Inlet south to East Cape Sable and for all of the Florida Keys, including Florida Bay and the Dry Tortugas.

A tropical storm watch has been issued for the west coast from north of East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee, and for the east coast from north of Jupiter Inlet to Sebastian Inlet.

The low pressure system over the northwestern Caribbean continues to be the focus of what is going on in the tropics.

Thunderstorm activity has increased and conditions do appear favorable for development to a tropical depression during the next day or so.

There is about a 60 percent chance for this system to develop in the next 48 hours.

Right now, it appears this system will take a trip across Cuba and then head toward the east coast of Florida as a tropical depression or possibly a tropical storm.

This would not send it directly to Southwest Florida, but Southwest Florida will still get plenty of downpours and gusty breezes starting Wednesday through the first half of the day on Thursday.

There is still a remnant of Tropical Depression Julia about 200 miles southeast of Bermuda moving west-northwestward near 15 mph.

Development is not likely with this system.

Matthew- From NBC-2

NOON UPDATE by Meteorologist Morgan Palmer: Matthew continues to gain steam, not slowing down, as it approaches the coast of Nicaragua and Honduras.

This has led the National Hurricane Center to increase the chance of deep inland penetration of the storm into the mountainous terrain of Central America.   It is now not expected to become a hurricane before landfall.

In fact, the 11:00 a.m. advisory has Matthew diminishing to a remnant low by the middle of next week.

The forecast remains as murky as ever, with the possibility of movement into the northern Gulf with regeneration, complete dissipation, or even regeneration over the western Gulf all still on the table.

Check out the video for the mid-day update, and here on NBC-2.com later today.

Tropical Depression Worth Watching This Weekend

Possible threat to Gulf states next week

If the second scenario of a stalled Matthew comes to pass, then areas of the Gulf coast around to the Atlantic side of Florida will have to pay very close attention.

A trough of low pressure swinging through the lower 48 states next week could draw Matthew northward and toward the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Any tropical storm or hurricane that gets into the Gulf of Mexico in October could be a significant danger.

However, right now, we have to wait to see how far west this system gets.

There is no cause for immediate alarm along the Southwest Florida coast.

In light of forecasts for increasing tropical activity in the Caribbean over the next few weeks, it would be wise to use the upcoming weekend to make sure you have the necessary supplies in the event of an eventual threat.
